Mangaluru: Brakes fail, bus collides with car, driver's averts tragedy

Mangaluru, Aug 28: A bus collided with a Xylo car after its brakes failed at Thokkottu junction on Sunday, August 28.

Due to the presence of mind of the bus driver, 21 passengers inside the bus escaped unhurt. The inmates of the car also did not get hurt.

One part of the car is completely damaged. S N Travels bus that was plying from Mangaluru to Mudipu and had to reach Thokkottu bus stand but the brakes failed and it sped towards Thokkottu junction. It hit the car which was going from Ullal to Mudipu.

A major tragedy was averted by the driver considering the fact that Thokkottu junction is always crowded with people.

Jeppu traffic police have registered a case in this connection.

    Thank God no big tragedy happened Iam not sure if this bus had any brakes ?When was this bus last in garage ?Very dangerous to let this bus on roads carry Passangers .When brakes fail in bus how can be diverted to other place or no other vehicles on road was there ?Even hand brake failed ?Somehow God did his part to save lives of Passengers
