Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 28: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, August 28, reported 20 new coronavirus cases while eight cases were registered in Udupi.
The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,641 out of which 100 are currently active. As many as 11 patients were discharged on August 28.
Zero deaths were reported on August 28. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,859.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.
Positivity rate for the day stood at 2.66% percent.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
Eight coronavirus cases were reported on August 28. The total active Covid cases are 49.
A total of 10,90,439 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,148 have received both doses and 2,40,059 people have received booster doses.
Udupi reported seven cases, while Kundapur added one and Karkala registered zero cases.
