Udupi: Retired teacher falls while cutting tree branch, dies

Udupi, Aug 29: A retired teacher slipped while cutting the branch of a tree and died at Vantyala of Nadpalu village at Hebri in the district. The incident took place on Sunday August 28.

The deceased is identified as Rajagopal Shetty (68). He was cutting the branch of the tree in his farm near his house when the mishap occurred.

Shetty retired eight years ago after serving at Seetanadi government school and government high school in Hebri. He was involved in agriculture after retirement.

A case in this connection is registered in Hebri police station.

    Very sad to hear this tragic and sudden death of retired teacher Rajgopal Shetty. It might be heart attack as he is 68 years and cutting tree branch might have given extra pressure to his heart. Precious life is lost. Heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved members of the family. RIP .

    May his soul rest in peace. Old age people need to keep quiet, and employ skilled people for that difficult job. Other reason may cardiac arrest which is very common all these days.
