Kundapur: Private bus tyre bursts, driver’s presence of mind averts tragedy

Kundapur, Aug 29: A major tragedy was averted by the presence of mind of the bus driver as its front tyre exploded near Canara Bank Tekkatte branch on NH 66 highway on Sunday August 28 evening.

The private bus was plying from Karkala to Kundapur. As the front tyre exploded suddenly, the bus was about to run over the road divider. But the driver of the bus turned the bus with full force and prevented it from going to the other side of the road.

There were around 15 passengers in the bus and no one suffered any injury. They were provided alternative bus immediately. As the bus stood in the middle of the road for some time, traffic got affected. Later, the bus was moved to side of the road with the help of locals.

    perils of living in third world corrupted country....no one gives a damn to safety....in dubai where i lived for many years...there were people who used to stop vehicles and check the tyres...if they are worn out means heavy fine...now andh bhakts will ask me to go to dubai...i would have but they dont give citizenship..

    I agree partially to this since even I stayed there for several years. But, a country to become 3rd world or developed, a major contribution should be from the citizens. Of course there are several other factors. Even you must have noticed the same crowd as who lives in Dubai like a civilized human as soon as they land in India airport throw and spit outside from their car. That chaltha hein attitude if changed to some extent I think atleast my Mangalore would be a cleaner place to live.
