Mangaluru: Boat capsizes in deep sea, 10 fishermen rescued

Mangaluru, Aug 29: A fishing boat that left for deep sea fishing from Malpe fishing port capsized and sank in deep sea near Mangaluru. All 10 fishermen of Tamil Nadu origin on board of boat are rescued.

Makaradhwaja boat, owned by Mahesh Kundar of Malpe had left Malpe fishing port on August 17 evening for fishing. On August 23 evening, water entered the engine room of the boat due to heavy wind and rain at a distance of 11 nautical miles from Mangaluru. The boat sank completely.

The fishermen on the boat were rescued by Manvitanvit boat that was fishing nearby. It is estimated that the total loss including the fishing net and the catch of fish is around Rs 60 lac.
