Mangaluru, Aug 29: To encourage students to shine as athletes and prove their determination to win, the AICS–Cross Country Racing Viva La Race 2022-23 was organized at Prestige International School on Saturday, August 27 in the school campus.
The chief guest, sub inspector of Police Sandeep G S inaugurated the opening ceremony of Viva La Race and encouraged the athletes to do their best. Guests of honour corporator Veena Mangala and Abdul Ravoof also graced the occasion with their empowering presence.
Prestige International School chairman Hyder Ali, managing director Reshma Hyder along with the trustees, management and staff of the school accompanied the chief guest Sandeep G S and guest of honour Veena Mangala to release the balloons and wave the flag to declare the AICS Viva La Race open.
There were 46 schools participating from ICSE and CBSE schools from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The categories were under 17 Senior Boys and Girls, and under 14 Junior Boys and Girls. The athletes began the race from the picturesque bridge of Netravathi and finished the cross country race at the beautiful Prestige International School campus.
Kanachur Hospital provided the ambulance service for emergencies. Fida Catering service arranged the snacks and meals.
The chief guest for the closing ceremony of Viva La Race Gerald Santhosh D'Souza, director of Physical Education, Mangalore University, felicitated the winners and congratulated the athletes for their sporting spirit and passion. Guest of honour S M Rashid, founder chairman of Mangalore Education and Enhancement Trust also felicitated the winners and appreciated the efforts displayed by the athletes.
The overall championship trophy was won by Ananada Thirtha Vidyalaya, Pajaka. It was amazing to see the young athletes compete with dedication and determination during the AICS Cross Country Race at Prestige International School.
