Udupi, Aug 29: “Let there be coordination between the department of revenue, local bodies and the police during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, installation of the deity's idols and immersions that begin on August 31,” said deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M.
He was speaking after presiding over a meeting in this regard at the deputy commissioner’s auditorium on Monday, August 29.
“Necessary approval should be obtained before raising banners and flexes. The license number and the expiry date should be mentioned on them. Police department should provide suitable security. The department of revenue and the police should ensure suitable lighting at the place of idol immersion to prevent accidents. Expert divers should be deployed at the place,” he said.
