Mangaluru, Mar 13: Bishop of Mangaluru, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha administered the Sacrament of Confirmation on 45 children at St Dominic Church, Ashoknagar. He earlier explained the importance of the sacrament and prayed for the courtesy of the Holy Spirit.

The bishop who led the celebration of Holy Mass said that everybody should share love and live in peace and harmony. “We will definitely have the help of the Holy Spirit when we pray to him when in distress,” he said. The Bishop highlighted the significance of the prayer to ther Holy Spirit: “Lord send forth your spirit and renew the face of the earth” "The Holy Spirit helps us widen the scope of our mission. The disciples are given the gift of tongues so that they can reach out to many people. The Holy Spirit strengthens the church with His gifts, the son prompts the services, and the Father leads the activities. The Holy Spirit enriches the church with his fruits; the risen Lord breathes over his disciples and gives them the gift of the Holy Spirit," he said.

The bishop thanked the parish priest and all others involved in preparing the children to recieve the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Fr Daniel Veighas thanked the bishop for officiating the sacrament and conferring it on the children. He also thanked Fr Dileep Veigas and everyone involved in preparing the children for confirmation. He congratulated all the children for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Fr Daniel Veigas, parish priest, Fr Dileep Veigas, assistant parish priest, Maxim Crasta, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council, Noreen Pinto, secretary and Deborah Locker, coordinator of various commissions and others were present.
