Bengaluru, Aug 30: Lambasting the Mysuru-Kodagu BJP MP Pratap Simha for lavishly praising the quality of Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway work, JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said the ruling party MP should have visited Ramanagara, Bidadi areas on Sunday and could have enjoyed swimming at Sangabasappanadoddi on the roads.
Speaking to media persons after visiting the residence of Boregowda of Ittamadu in Bidadi, who died on Sunday due to fall of a tree while driving his car near Sangabasappanadoddi on Sunday, Kumaraswamy criticised the ruling BJP MP for his social media photographs in praise of the quality of Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway work and said the highway has become a swimming pool.
Kumaraswamy consoled the bereaved family and presented a cheque for Rs 5 lakh. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who had visited Ramangara district on Sunday to inspect the damages on Sunday, has also sanctioned Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the bereaved family.
Pointing out that the BJP MP had held a meeting of officials at Bidadi and shared the photographs in social media praising the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway work, the JD(S) leader said: ``Let him come now and swim at the highway at Sangabasappanadoddi, which has become a swimming pool. Those who have eyes can see the situation.’’
``Instead of constructing a highway for the vehicles to drive, highway has been converted into a swimming pool. He is holding a responsible position and cannot give lame excuses that the highway has been inundated due to tank breach. The work should be permanent and lasting. An elected representative is not for issuing certificates for the work but take steps to prevent mistakes,’’ he said.
