Mangaluru, Aug 30: Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) conducted the 20th Konkani dance competition at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday August 28.
Liston Derrick D'Souza, vice president of KNS welcomed the competitors and the gathering. Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank Ltd inaugurated the competition by lighting the lamp. Santhosh Sequeira, proprietor of Santhosh Arrangers, Kankanady and a patron of KNS and Hera Pinto, actress, anchor and producer and director of the Konkani movie ‘Alshi Rede’ were present on the dais.
Addressing the gathering, Anil Lobo said, “In the past 2 years, there are major changes in the structure of Don Bosco Hall. The present managing committee along with the leadership of former president Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza took the responsibility in completing the renovation work of Don Bosco Hall. A lot of Konkani talents who came to light through various competitions conducted by KNS in the past 80 years have reached greater heights.” He called upon the competitors to achieve greater success in life in general and in Konkani culture in particular.
Floyd D'Mello general secretary, Praveen Rodrigues, assistant secretary, competition convenors Pamela Santos and Shanthi Dias were present.
As many as 26 teams participated in the competition.
Robin Vas conducted the competition. Marita D'Souza, Judith D'Souza and Cletus Lobo assisted in conducting the same.
Dixon Machado, Nicky Pinto and Deepa Maria Penha officiated as judges.
Sunil Menezes handled the computation of scores. Competition convenor Pamela Santos announced the results.
Floyd D'Mello compered the programme and rendered the vote of thanks.
