Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School celebrates National Sports Day

Mangaluru, Sep 1: Lourdes Central School celebrated National Sports Day on August 29 at LCS School Grounds at 8.00 am. The programme began with the universal prayer followed by the prayer song ‘We gather on this Day Oh Lord’ sung by the school choir, and the intentions led by Abdullah, Mudassir and Juan of class XIC. Sujeet Bengani of class XIC gave the thought for the day, highlighting on the quote said by Muhammed Ali ‘You don’t lose if you get knocked down, but you lose if you stay down.’ The significance of sports was given by Melanie and Anna of class XIC.

A quiz on sports was conducted by Fr Robert DSouza, the principal for classes III to XII. The students were very enthusiastic to answer the questions and participated actively. The winners were given attractive prizes. The students of the choir group sang a melodious song on the occasion titled ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Keeps Our Health Always Good.’ This was followed by a short skit by the students of class XIC conveying the message that whether you win or lose, parents and teachers are there to support their children.

The principal in his message said that respect is the most important element of personality. What you give to others, returns to you with profit. So respect everyone. The sports achievers of different tournament were felicitated with their trophies and certificates. The programme ended with the singing of the School Anthem. Akshith and Mridula of class XIC compered the programme.
