Bengaluru, Sep 1: Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani has promised to find a permanent solution to tackle the soil desalination in Upper Krishna project area, which was the major problem of farmers.
Participating in the Agri Max 2022 national symposium jointly organised by the State Agriculture Department and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at GKVK on Thursday, September 1, the minister said the fertility of the soil in the UKP catchment area gets deteriorated due to salination every year.
Nirani said a dialogue with agriculture and soil experts was held at Bilagi recently, which has furnished valuable information and knowledge to farmers.
The minister said Karnataka was leading in the ethanol production and an investment of Rs 5,850 crore had been made in the ethanol manufacture last year.
Agriculture Department secretary Shivayogi Kalasad, Agriculture University vice chancellor S Rajendra Prasad, FICCI president Ullas Kamath, FICCI key persons T R Keshavan and Ravindra Agarwal were present.
