Bengaluru: Torrential rain coupled with thunder forecast in state for next two days

Bengaluru, Sep 1: The India Meteorological Department has informed that heavy rain together with thunder is likely in the state during the next two days.

Rain is likely at several places in south interior and north interior Karnataka.

Yellow alert has been announced at Belagavi, Gadag, Bengaluru, Haveri, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Dharwad, Ballari, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Chikkaballapura, Kolar and Ramanagara districts.

Heavy rain is expected at Bengaluru rural, Bengaluru city, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara and Shivamogga.

Atmosphere conducive to rain has been created at the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Therefore, the India Meteorological department has stated that rain is likely to lash for the next two days.

Water can be seen everywhere because of rains during the last ten days. Dams in the state are filled and a large amount of water is being released from them.

Underpasses in the city areas are inundated. As the lakes are overflowing, rainwater has entered agricultural lands destroying crops. Heavy rain has been reported at Belagavi, Haveri, Gadag and Vijayapura since this morning. Mud houses are collapsing and the residents are staying in the houses of their relatives.

Bengaluru has been devastated in the heavy rain during the last 24 hours that was not seen or heard of in the recent past. New areas of the city have come under water. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has identified 209 areas as sensitive. New areas have been included due to heavy rainfall this time.
