Mangaluru, Sep 2: Heavy police force has been deployed in the city ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city on Friday September 2.

The Prime Minister will arrive in the city to dedicate and lay foundation stone for eight projects worth Rs 3,800 crore.

The police department has arranged vehicle checking in various parts of the city including KPT, Kavoor and Kottara Chowki.

Vehicles are not allowed beyond Kottara Chowki unless they possess a pass. Vehicle diversions are made in 9 junctions.

People going for their routine jobs are struggling without vehicles for transportation. Most of them are walking for kilometres to reach their destination.

People in the district in several places are suffering without proper public transportation.

Not a single word does he utter about jobs ... only religion and religion. Our utterly disgusting useless foolish bhakt citizens vouch that his name will satiate their hunger pangs as if he's a God or next to God. Our country is already in the doldrums with maniacs like him ruling the roost.

Entire city has come to a standstill as there are no public transport. Many of the people who travel to industrial area, Surathkal could not go. This is a public waste. Can't the Prime Minister launch these programmes online? If he has to talk to beneficiaries and party workers, why not through digital media. The visits of high profile political leaders is a national waste. This is applicable to leaders of all the parties. Now the elections are coming...how many times we will have to suffer? We the public should petition the governments to stop this menace of political shows and redeem the public from apathy.

First past the post -- how elections work in India - We do not have - proportional representation -- now this is the system adopted by founding fathers and we live with it -- some countries have proportional rep -- Last State elections Karnataka -- Congress had approx. 38 % -- popular vote -- BJP 36 % -- But BJP got 104 seats -- vs congress -80 -- later how they formed GOVT after collapse of coalition -- all know-- This time no Modi wave or BJP wave-- interesting to see how voters vote -- No governance -- Corruption etc. etc.
