Udupi, Sep 4: A youth accused of possessing 1.048 kg ganja was sentenced to three years in prison by Justice Shantaveera Shivappa of principal and district special court.
Arfan (27), son of Shabbir, a resident of Arfan Manzil, Hoode post, Padutonse village, is the accused who is convicted by the court.
The police confiscated ganja from Arfan on September 5, 2020. PSI Laxman had filed a chargesheet in the case. The complainant in this case was Ramachandra Nayak, the then police inspector of CEN crime section.
Arfan was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 30000 in lieu of which he has to undergo an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
Shantibai argued for the prosecution.
