Bommai promises revamp of recruitment policy for teachers

Bengaluru, Sep 5: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has promised to revamp the policy of recruitment of teachers to ensure that the fresh recruitments will be done in the previous year itself in accordance with the number of retiring teachers.

Participating in the Teachers Day celebration at the banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha to mark the birthday of former President Dr S Radhakrishnan on Monday, he explained the various measures taken by the State Government for the improvement of the education sector with an outlay of Rs 25,000 crore in the budget.

Pointing out that as many as 23,000 classrooms have to be built, he said the government has taken steps to construct 8,101 classrooms this year.

The government has taken steps to provide separate toilets for boys and girls in all government schools by August 15 next year besides establishing 4,000 anganawadi centres. Steps are also being taken to recruit 15,000 teachers, he said.

The Chief Minister said teachers were most important component of the education system, he said promising to take steps for the improvement of their working conditions and also improve the quality of education.

He urged the teachers and the student community to be always open to change and adoption of new methods as well technology.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister B C Nagesh, MLC Puttanna and founder of the PES Group of Educational Institutions Doreswamy were among the dignitaries who were present.
