Mangaluru: Teachers’ day celebration held at Expert PU college

Mangaluru, Sep 5: “Teachers are the pillars and the guiding force of students’ lives,” said Dr Kishore Shetty.

“Teaching is the noblest profession that shapes students’ life and career. Students must aim big. Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare today. With sheer dedication and hard work, guided by able teachers they can achieve success” said Dr Kishore Shetty, renowned ENT surgeon, Mangaluru.

He was speaking on the occasion Teachers’ day celebration at Expert PU college, Kodialbail here. Dr Shetty reminisced his experience of teaching in various medical colleges. He also recalled his long and close association with Expert College and the management and appreciated the quality education that the institution has been providing for many years.

Dr Usha prabha N Nayak, vice-chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions, speaking on the occasion said, “Teachers are the most neglected community in the society. Every teacher with more than 25 years of experience must be awarded of a doctorate degree for being in this noble profession.” She reminded the students of their responsibilities towards teachers. “Every teacher is different and hence the students should not show any favouritism to any teacher. All of them deserve equal respect and love”, she added.

Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert Group of Institutions said “Teachers are anxious for your future and hence they are strict. Students should remember and respect all the teachers from elementary school to higher education, as they shape a person’s life.”

On this occasion, the renovated auditorium “EXPODIUM” was inaugurated. Architect Deepika A Nayak and the project manager Sandesh were honoured. The dignitaries offered floral tribute to Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

The chief guest Dr Kishore Shetty was felicitated for his life time achievements and contributions to the society. Student council president Samarth Karmakar welcomed the gathering. Rhea Mathew and Tejas Kumar compered the programme. Principal prof Ramachandra Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. Renowned musician and the trustee of the institution Ustad Rafique Khan, director (IT) of the institution Ankush N Nayak, Deepika A Nayak were also present on the occasion.

The programme was followed by various cultural activities by the students and the games for the teachers. Prizes were given away for the winners of invitation card making competition.
