Bengaluru, Sep 6: In the backdrop of Karnataka industry department being top achiever in “Ease of Doing Business,’’ the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), the government’s premier industrial land allotment agency has brought in force the “Ease of Land Allotment” system.

To prepare for the ambitious Global Investors’ Meet (GIM) scheduled on November 2, 3 and 4, Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani headed industries department has recently issued an order that allotment of industrial land up to 10 acres need not come before the mandatory Land Audit Committee (LAC).

An investor or industrialist wanting up to 10 acres of land will directly come before the State Level Single Window Clearance Committee headed by Minister, skipping the LAC, which results in speedier approval of the industrial land process.

“The State Government has issued this order to emphasize transparency and to facilitate Ease of Doing Business by simplifying the approval system. With this order, investment proposals will be able to get approved quickly and one need not wait for months together for LAC clearances. This will help all sectors including small, micro, and medium entrepreneurs” noted Nirani.

Many industrial associations had petitioned the government for the change and simplification of the procedure while allotting industrial land by the KIADB.

“I should thank chief minister Basavaraj Bommai for understanding the needs of investors and allowing us to make amendments in the land allotment procedures,” Nirani expressed.

However, an area of more than ten acres and investment proposals ranging from Rs.15 crore to Rs.500 crore can be presented before the Land Audit Committee, once cleared here, the proposal will before State Level Single Window Clearance Committee for the final approval.
