Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SS)

Puttur, Sep 8: An inhuman act of a KSRTC bus conductor has come to light at Eshwaramangala in the taluk here.

A bus conductor prevented a passenger from boarding the bus by kicking him on his chest on Wednesday September 7 evening. This incident happened at a KSRTC bus depot in Puttur and the conductor has been identified as Sukhraj Rai.

When a KSRTC bus stopped at Eshwaramangala, a passenger was about to board the bus. The passenger who was said to be in an inebriated state, was unstable. The bus conductor prevented the passenger from getting into the bus when the latter tried to force his way into the bus. The bus conductor snatched the umbrella from the passenger besides other things that he was carrying and threw them out of the vehicle. Later, the bus conductor slapped the passenger and hit him on his hand besides kicking him out of the bus.

The passenger fell on the road and rolled over. The conductor signalled to the driver to start the vehicle. The entire episode was captured by the locals on their mobile phone and made viral.

Conductor suspended

Reacting to the incident, KSRTC Puttur divisional controller Jayakar Shetty said he had not received any complaint so far on the matter. "I have seen the entire video that has gone viral and I have ascertained the facts. This incident happened at Eshwaramangala on Wednesday evening. The bus conductor has no right to assault any passenger. We have taken this matter seriously and placed the accused conductor under suspension. This incident should not have happened and it is unpardonable," he said.

Such non-sense happens when the bus crew is emboldened by the fact that public will not step in. In WB such crew then takes rest in hospital for few days.

There are times when passengers are inebriated and board the bus creating problems to bus conductor and fellow passengers. Good work by the bus conductor, if he does not take control who else is there to take control of the situation. If the conductor had not done his job, and if the inebriated passenger had created problem in the bus the conductor would be trouble.

Sad to see the conductor being made villain of this whole piece. A drunkard tries to board a bus in the middle of the day, what if he had molested or harassed a women commuter? The same conductor would have been criticised. Hats of the conductor!

Treating poor humans like dogs; conductor should get the same treatment then he will know! If the person was well dressed and had the looks of an educated person, conductor would not have behaved in such an inhumane manner!

I feel the conductor did a right thing by stopping him from entering the bus in such condition, but he could have taken action in a better way. such people may created ruckus and un due inconvenience to co passengers if allowed to travel.
