On Wednesday evening, Mowaz broke into Prashanth's home, situated near the Someshwara Beach bus stop, and stole two gold chains weighing about 26 grams and Rs 30,000 cash from the cupboard when Prashanth was away in Udupi with his wife and son. Mowaz's act of breaking into Prashanth's home was captured on CCTV at the homestay. Mowaz was wearing a cap and glasses and had broken into Prashanth's home by breaking the iron bolt of the backdoor. Mowaz also broke into temple worker Prasad's home from the backdoor and made away with 56 grams of gold before fleeing from the scene. Mowaz's face was captured on CCTV from a house near the temple and his face became recognisable.

In the past, Mowaz was involved in a number of thefts in Ullal and the police are investigating.

Bar benders & carpenters know the weakness of locks & doors. A theft case if proven in court will get the thieves only 6 months imprisonment & a small fine which is lighter than 2 wheeler drivers pay for violation of traffic rules as penalty. Unless every theft proven gets double imprisonment provision these things take place as the buyers will lose money which they paid to the thief in getting goods at cheap rate.

Although theft is sin as well crime, but I would be most happy if all the thieves come up with a plan to loot all politicians who themselves have looted.

"... resides with his wife in her Kannur (Kerala) home and he visits Mangaluru every now and then to carry out thefts." --- this indo-somali is a visiting specialist thief... similar to visiting professors in management colleges... he comes to KN, does his "duty" faithfully and diligently and then returns to his "homeland" to enjoy the fruits of his labour with his wife and compatriots...
