Brahmavar: Bull attack on public – One dead, two down with brutal injuries

Daijiworld Media Network – Brahmavar (MS)

Brahmavar, Sep 10: A lone giant bull has attacked several people around the market area of the town. The administration is not taking the responsibility of taming it. For animal lovers, this bull is a pet, while for others, it is a threat for life.

This bull has so far killed one woman and two women are injured severely. The bull which belongs to Sri Mahalingeshwara temple is allowed to roam around freely in the market. It eats the fruits and vegetables and has damaged several two wheelers, auto rickshaws and cars.

Indira Nayak (71), a resident of Indira Nagar of the town was knocked down by the bull. Though her family spent lac of rupees on her treatment, she succumbed on August 29.

In another incident, the bull entered the house of Gauri Nayak (71), residing near Car Street and knocked her down. She was in a coma for several days. Her son Shivananda, who is a daily wage labourer, spent lac of rupees taken as loan to treat his mother. However, she still fights for her life.

Another woman who got injured and cannot walk now due to the bull attack is Billi Bai of Indira Nagar.

Locals accuse that the bull was tied for two months to prevent it from harming the public. However, once it was let loose, it is continuing its old habit.

Last year, when the bull was not seen in Brahmavar town, the so called cow lovers of the locality had appealed to local police to search for the bull. But the irony is that the animal lovers are not bothered about the people who got hurt due to it.

Members of all three gram panchayats of Chantaru, Waramballi and Handadi have come to the decision that the bull should be tied in the temple. The Gorakshaks have to make suitable arrangements for the bull to prevent danger to the public.

Ravindranath Shanbhogue, president of human right protection foundation said, “The family which has suffered due to public nuisance from the bull should get compensation. At least medical expenses should be borne. There is provision in our law for the same. The owners of the bull or the panchayat under the limits of which the bull is roaming and creating ruckus should provide medical expenses of the injured persons on humanitarian grounds.”

All are gods! Holy Scripture says you are gods, Sons or Children of Most High. So all are gods and not animals or stones. But, Over the time those landlords, wealthy, of good charactered or talented or specialized in particular trade have become Lords or gods? or people call them Lords ? Are what these wealthy people believed also have become gods ? As cattle provide milk specially to milkless human mothers' babies so they have also become gods ? loving and treating well animals is good, as they are also GOD's creations!

Bull fights often seen in the streets of western countries. It's not so new..only visualise in India. Felt bad without any reason death of a senior citizen after all only we can say death/birth only decided by God and not on hand of mankind. When death strucks no one knows only we try to analyise reason behind it. Person up above is only a Sutradaar and we only katputlis in front of him.

The bull tried to get undue attention by its deeds. I will not be surprised if it will be lifted by usual suspects with multiple cases for thieving cattle under multiple jurisdictions of various police stations. Since time immemorial, bulls have behaved this way and this bull without doubt is a repeat offender. Allowing it to roam freely is not acceptable and yes, there has to be some explanation of these rare moments and not daily & routine road accidents. Cull the bull but not the corrupt contractors who are responsible for many accidents due to poor work quality; or those irresponsible drivers behind the wheels under influence of liquid or the powder. Anyway, the bull clearly has aversion to the number 71. Contractors and drunk drivers do not have any such preference - they have license to cull anyone.

We too have many bulls and buffaloes in our area, but they never harm or hurt others. The behavior of this bull, especially aggression, may be owing to some trigger, which could be sound or honking or touching or even a rod. Nonetheless, it is sad that many people have suffered owing to the actions of the animal. Generally, these animals don't hurt anyone, they're non-violent. The temple authorities must engage an animal behaviorist to explain the issue.

Recently one court opined those who feed stray dogs should be held responsible if they attack and injure people. If same logic is applied those who feed it and those who are its owners should be held responsible and they have to bear the expenses of the injured and liable to compensate them?
