Puttur: Passengers feel unsafe at rail station after gold snatch in running train

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Sep 12: Golden ornaments worth Rs 7 lac were stolen from a woman passenger in a running train that was arriving at Puttur from Bengaluru by forcibly taking away her vanity bag near Kabaka railway station.

People are not feeling safe at Kabaka railway station. Accusations of the railway station not being safe are heard from many years.

Kabaka railway station was declared as a model railway station recently after many developmental works were done in the station. The number of passengers accessing the station has also increased.

The trains that move from Bengaluru to Mangaluru and vice-versa pass through Puttur railway station. The train from Bengaluru reaches Puttur railway station at around 2.30 am. As this is an unearthly hour passengers are targeted near the railway station.

As there is no security in the railway station during the night, none of the thieves or dacoits has been caught so far. Many incidents of similar nature have taken place in the railway station but very few cases have been registered.

Passengers are urging introduction of railway police security after 10 pm till 6 am inside the railway station and also manning of the station outside by the local police.

Appeals have been made to the city municipality in this regard. Puttur MLA, DySP and railway station officials are thinking of beefing up security measures for the safety of passengers.

Also, there is a plan to introduce a pre-paid autorickshaw post near the railway station. Though many autorickshaws wait to take passengers in the wee house, police does not have details of the drivers or owners who drive them. So action is being taken to put a system in place.

U r very right Rita, actually we cannot trust the Cops or authorities for our property. Once it's gone, it will not come back. Moreover gold should be bought for investment not for display. Nowadays law & order situation is worsening in our dakshina Karnataka, which was once a very safe & peaceful place where all the caste & creed people co existed, thanks to a weak CM.
