Kundapur, Sep 13: First death anniversary of national leader of Congress, former union minister Oscar Fernandes was held by the block Congress of the city at the office of the party.
Former chairman of legislative council K Pratapchandra Shetty garlanded the portrait of Oscar and said that all Congress members have to follow the ideals of service, contribution to the party which Oscar Fernandes inculcated in his long political career. It is our duty to recall Oscar’s service to the country everyday.
Hariprasad Shetty, block Congress president, said, “Oscar has served Congress in various capacities. He was a model politician, who was simple and kept very good rapport with general cadre of the party. His ideals, administrative style and generous values needs to be followed by every one.”
Former president of block Congress Malyadi Shivarama Shetty, B Hiriyanna Chathrabettu and Shymala Bhandary also spoke on the occasion.
District Congress spokesperson Vikas Hegde, former president of city authority Jacob D’Souza, president of women Congress Devaki Sanniah, Munaf of minority unit, city Congress president Ganesh Sherigar, member of town municipality Chandrashekhar Kharvi, Srishar Sheregar, Ashfaque Kodi, Prabhavati Shetty, Janaki Billava and Laxmi were present.
