Mangaluru: Man arrested for car theft 25 yrs after crime

Mangaluru, Sep 13: The city police have arrested a man accused of car theft 25 years after the crime took place.
The accused is Aslam alias Aslam Pasha who was wanted in an Ambassador car theft case registered on 11 November 1997. The police have registered a case under IPC section 379.

A chargesheet was filed against the accused. The accused had not been attending the court since  8 February 2000. On 7 May 2015, the case was declared LPC (Long Pending Case). As the residence of the accused was in Peenya, Bengaluru and he was not traceable. The police tracked him down at Aranahalli of Periyapatna on September 12.

 

Aslam has been produced before the court.

Police officials Puttarama and Ravikumar were instrumental in tracking down the accused.

    Readers, intelligence inputs, indicates that criminals, disappear from the radar with due complicity... the crime is still relevant and this person has to serve his sentence despite his age... In Mumbai many heinous criminals are holed up in Pakistan and even in Malaysia !!!

    May be the person have completely transformed into a good person as aged has passed. Looking at his attire from the pic he doesn't look like a thief any more. When prisoners are set free after their good conduct, by cross checking his history after the theft incident, if everything looks clear than should be penalized for the theft as compensation and let go free. The main motto of imprisonment is to bring in changes to human who are in wrong path, and if such reform has happened in his life then the solution is not imprisonment.

    if the man had turned any good for his age. he must have surrendered to the Law and accepted the consequence of the mistake he made. Still, his god has shown him a way to become clean before he becomes older and dies. Let him accept the mistake and ask for mercy and allow the Law of the land to give its verdict.

    Great job! Those policeman should be awarded, they did work. In Maharashtra's Palghar, the police are eating, sleeping, partying and having a ball, on public funds. No need to work when salary comes without fail, even without any action.

    Thieving has strong support in DK especially when cows are robbed. It is like a basic qualification - next step is to steal everything else. We in DK need a new definition because, thieves are supported big time due to political reasons which has pre-Independence history. Nobody has that long memory and he demonstrated the perfect attribute of a thief by not being caught for 25 years. He should be given an award. Can Police explain how he was secure for 25 years and today he is caught after a generation?
