Mangaluru: Auto rickshaw falls into gorge in Ullal, elderly driver dies

Mangaluru, Sep 14: An auto rickshaw driver died on Monday night when his auto fell into a gorge near a school in Ullal while he was returning from Deralakatte after a trip.

The deceased is identified as Anand Sapalya (70), who resides close to Someshwara temple.

Anand lost control of his vehicle while driving the auto rickshaw near the Kotekaru auto stand and was returning to Deralakatte when the accident occurred. Anand suffered a head injury and died.

He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Mangaluru south division traffic police have registered a case.

    Its a irony that old people have to work ..that too drive .. after a certain age ..our brain and body are not in sync ..the response is slow .. Its very risky to drive vehicles after a certain age.

    Very sad news.. May his soul rest in peace. How determined he should be to work at this age of 70, hats of to him for the great service to the public(doesn't matter a paid service, imagine how many members would have taken his auto in emergency time of their life). Am sure prayers from all would be there for him
