Kundapur, Sep 12: Activists of pro-Hindu organizations handed over five college students to the personnel of the police station here on Monday September 11 evening. They alleged that the students were behaving indecently in public.

Two male and three female students from Kaup area had arrived at Maravanthe beach near here in a car. Activists of Hindu organizations said that the students had exceeded norms of decorum and decency at the beach. The activists chased the students, intercepted their vehicle near Koteshwar bypass road and brought them back to the police station here.

The students, who grew panicky at this development, provided to police officials details of their parents, purpose of their visit here etc. Later, they were released from the police station.

Police circle inspector, Nasir Hussain and circle inspector, Manjappa, criticized the activists of Hindu organizations for chasing the students and bringing them to police station unnecessarily, duly pointing out that the group also contained brother-sister duo. They reminded the activists that they do not have the right to take law into their hands.

The activists got angry at this, and said that they had brought the students here after witnessing their indecent behaviour at Maravanthe. They said that they had given advance information to police before bringing them here, and that they had not harassed the students. They asserted that youngsters when seated in the car at Maravanthe were behaving obscenely. This gave rise to tension but in course of time issues were sorted out and things calmed down.

when such incidents increase in future, noone will come to the beach .Afterall there are some stalls ,hotels and wait for some visitors,to sell their either handykraft or eatables to sell.and these people are not allowing it.Let some visitors come, and let some money come in.Locals are not police.Good police have teached them a lesson,Iwould prefer police should have put them inside and visitors let out.Hope they learnt a lesson.

Police should ensure that these unofficial people do not have any local standi in maintaining decency etc. in the area. It is job of police. This might lead to unnecessary harassment of people in beaches. They could have called the police to the area. Case should have been booked for chasing them. Who gave them the authority to chase? Did they steal anything?

What is this happening in both D.Kannada and Udupi districts? Why this bloody moral policing group chase and entrust five people of the picnic group to the Police? Who told them to do this act? Because of these moral policing gang brother and sisters or even close relatives and friends cant walk on road or go to a hotel or ice cream parlour to take coffee or ice cream, cool drinks etc. Police Inspector has done a good job by warning the gang. Whether decent or indecent who are they to do all these acts. Whether Govt. or Police dept. appointed them to do so.

Send these goondas (activists of Hindu organizations) to the Pakistan and China borders — let them face off with insurgents and the Chinese army and learn a lesson or two in decency!

Appreciate this good 'mangalarathi' by police to the PEEPING TOMS !!
Police should give them a stern warning for interfering in the private affairs of beach goers that included members like brother and sister f one family! They might have felt indecency through their saffron glasses while they are unfit to enjoy natural beach side beauty!

I would like to ask these so called dharma raksha people what do they do when they go to the beach?
Please find some work and keep yourselves occupied instead of relying on the freebies that are thrown at you by the so called people who claim to watch people for morality.
Would these same persons be at the beach when their benefactors come there?
Don't you have families to take care of? Please do that. Let the law and order machinery take care of the rest.
Stop harassing people who have their own rights to enjoy at the beach.

Although it is not any one's business to interfere in other affairs, if the students exceeded decency norms that is uncomfortable to public, they did a right thing by informing police instead of countering them directly.

I really appreciate the police team who handle such issues with much wisdom. We need to support our police and law with all help they need. I wish the public and police seriously team up in much friendly ways and get rid of all evil forces from our society which plaques this generation. Thank you our police team. God bless you all. Our support is with you always. Our constitution does not allow anyone to hurt others privacy as long is its not offensive. I hope our new generation of kids use the freedom wisely and behave decently in public places avoiding any misunderstanding. Dress up decently.Talk sensibly and behave politely! Jai hind

Well-done Kundapur police. No one has a right to take law in their hands. There is a police department to handle such cases and not any organizations. If these kind of petty issues occurs in tourism place who will visit again? how do you expect to promote tourism? very cheap and narrow mentality of the people has to change then only we can think of Ache Din.

Leave the students alone!!!its their time to enjoy life!!who are these goons to chase them? If they have guts let them also spend money and catch a lady and enjoy. First of all they don't want to work. They are lazy bugs!!! They are the trouble makers.
I live and work in Kuwait for the past 17 yrs in an international hotel in Kuwait. Here I saw married aged men and women in their 50's enjoy sex with other partners. Their wives/husband s are there in their native place. When these cannot control then what's the wrong in enjoying young students . Anyway students please enjoy ur life. Wish u good luck

Self appointed guardians of morality or moral police. Kudos to the police officials for their acting impartially. Ever since these morons are roaming freely in the guise of custodians of law, there is no peace in society. They are a curse to the nation.

Oh! These goons will decide what is decent and what is not! I see one of the accused in Praveen Poojary murder case among these goons! And they are teaching decency! A brother & sister along with their common friends strolling on a beach need to take permission from these uncouth, unemployed cowards. I bet you! If one of the boys or girls was drowning at the beach, none of these goons had the guts to jump to the waters and save him/her. Their guts are limited to catching them, thrashing them and imposing their dictats. Jobless people who are paid Rs 150-250 per head per raid by their handlers. It's the only way of getting their daily bread, sorry, daily pint and plate of beef chilly!

And for very reason...tourism is suffering in DK, despite having wonderful natural beaches. These goons should learn to mind their own business. Idle mind is devils workshop!!! Why their political party's not creating new jobs(their top boss promised crores of jobs?...) motivating them to work for daily bread and remain busy so that they do not have time to poke their nose into others private affair?????

This is unacceptable. There could have been serious accident with the car chase. Nobody has the rights to take law into their hands. If anybody has broken the law, that is goons & they should have been arrested for endangering the lives of the students.
