From the editor's desk :-

Dear Do..Re..Me..Fa.. browser,

My heart is bubbling with joy as your favourite music column melodiously enters its 2nd   glorious year.  I'm greatly indebted to you for your generous support and encouragement without which I would not have been here today.

Last month we fondly celebrated 'Monti Fest' our heavenly mother's birthday.  This month of October is dedicated to our Lady.  Invoking blessings from our heavenly mother on all, I present to you this first Chord in this 2nd year, a special Chord of Do..Re..Me..Fa..,  of a great devotee of our Blessed Virgin Mother, a very well known Prince of Konkanni Music who is none other than Sri Oswald D'Souza, Valencia.

I personally know Sri Oswald for the past 18 years who is a highly talented musician.  Music flows through each and every one of his veins.  Though at times I have seen him bit temperamental, his love and dedication for Konkanni music is unchallenged.  The greatest quality I have noticed in Oswald is his love for little children and to train them in Konkanni singing.  He is ready to do any sacrifice to train little children especially for Konkanni singing competitions.  Any singing competition anywhere in Muscat, Oswald is there ready with his perfectly disciplined and trained candidates who are sure to bag a few prizes in the competition. Because of Oswald's dedication, sacrifice and training many children in Muscat have become great and confident stage singers.

Oswald's last cassette, which was released in Muscat some time back, was a big hit.  This cassette comprises of melodious songs composed exclusively for Konkanni hit drama "Jivit" staged at Muscat, sung by well known singers like Oswald, Apolinaris, Dolphy Vas, Rony, Ida Pinto, Laveena and Victoria Soares.  Oswald is planning to release this cassette / CD in Mangalore and Mumbai shortly.  I personally encourage Konkanni music lovers to go for this cassette and enjoy some really great Konkanni numbers.

Now it is my privilege to present to you this sweet chord of this unique Konkanni music portal and I'm sure you will enjoy listening to this melodious chord.  Once again I thank you for browsing this column.

Let's meet again next month with another musical Chord.  Until then bye!

SRI OSWALD D'SOUZA

"The prince of Konkanni Music" Sri Oswald D'Souza is a passionate lover of Konkanni Music and language.  He works as a full time officer in Muscat to earn his livelihood which allows him very little time to pursue his love and interest in Konkanni Music.  Inspite of it he is actively involved in singing of hymns and religious songs, cultural and stage singings and in teaching Konkanni songs to little children in Muscat.  He has to his credit numerous original song compositions in Konkanni, Kannada and Tulu.  His goal is to serve Mother Konkanni till the end of his life without any desire for rewards or awards.  If his financial position permits him, he is ready to dedicate his full time and energy to Konkanni music and he is eargerly looking forward to it.

Family and Childhood Backgroud :-

Oswald D'Souza was born on 14th March 1957 in the parish of Valencia, Mangalore, to his proud parents late Joseph and late Alice D'Souza.  He has 4 brothers and 3 sisters all of whom are keen lovers of Konkanni music.  Sri Apolinaris D'Souza is one of his brothers who is quite well known for his musical talents in Muscat as well as in Mangalore.  Born in a music loving family, the little boy Oswald imbibed the spirit of music during his daily evening family Rosary an
