A star sportsperson at St.Aloysius' High School in the 50s, a violinist-pianist-guitarist par excellence, a pop musician with the popular Weltha's Orchestra, Choir Conductor at Shanthi Cathedral and more than anything, a great human being - that was DENZIL. He was greatly instrumental in grooming me as a guitarist and together we played for Weltha's Orchestra for four years before I left for Bombay. His selfless service to the legendary Balmatha Musical Association for over 50 years will always be cherished as Denzil's greatest contribution in the field of Church music.

Farewell, dear Denzil ... we shall all meet on that beautiful shore. Because "FOR A CHRISTIAN, THERE IS NO DEATH THERE IS ONLY LIFE, AND LIFE ETERNAL".

Very sorry to learn of the demise of Mr Denzil Karkada, an immensely talented musician and organizing force. I am grateful that the BMA performed under his baton at the funeral of Dr Louella Lobo Prabhu. My condolences to his family on a loss which is more than personal- he leaves a void in his community and the music loving populace. Hopefully, his work as founder of the Balmatta Musical Assn will survive his earthly life.

It was shocking news to hear the sad demise yesterday of our good friend Denzil Karkada. Thank you Lord for the gift for our brother Denzil Karkada. I have known him as a teenager playing the king of insturments "the violin". Both of us, pupils of Late Mr. Theodore Melville have been playing for orchestras and other functions. As a founder member of the Mangalore Christian Council and as Director & President of YMCA, Mangalore, I have approached him on several occasions and his monumental contribution to the cause of music is noteworthy and tremendous.
Adiue! Adiue! Adiue! to you brother Denzil, till we meet at our Father's place. May your soul rest in eternal peace.

Perhaps there was a urgent need to direct heavenly music therefore God took Denzil heavenly home to conduct the heavenly choir! As we mourn the loss of a gifted man and his valubale contributions to our church, let us thank God for the gift and graces of Denzil who enriched our worship and blessed our hearts and homes. Our dear Denzil Uncle touched so many lives with his gentleness, soft-spoken nature and, as most who knew him know, his quiet but throbbing passion for music. He nurtured the love of music and its performance in so many people, especially by encouraging even the youngest kids to take part and worship our Lord in the choir of Balmatta's Shanthi Cathedral.
