Sadhu Shilanand SJ (86), son of the late Antony D'Souza and the late Cecilia Lasrado, brother of Charles / Flavy, Vincent / Carmelita, Vinny / Arthur and the late Richard, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Funeral will be in Bihar on Sunday, August 9.

Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Sylvester D’Souza, fondly known in his missionary life as Br. Sadhu Shilanand, S.J. Our heartfelt and deepest sympathies to his beloved family, relatives, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Br. Sadhu Shilanand was a true follower of Jesus Christ and a dedicated missionary and charity worker. Through his noble mission and selfless service, he brought hope, dignity, and much-needed assistance to hundreds of poor and underprivileged people. His compassion and concern for those less fortunate will remain an inspiration to many. What made him truly special was his simple, humble, and down-to-earth nature. He never sought recognition for the good he did. His life itself was a powerful testimony of faith, humility, love, and service to humanity. Though we mourn his passing, we can take comfort in knowing that his good works and the lives he touched will continue to speak of the beautiful person he was. His way of living and serving others will remain a lesson and a role model for generations to come. May Sylvester D’Souza (Br. Sadhu Shilanand, S.J.) rest peacefully in the eternal embrace of our Heavenly Father. May God grant him eternal rest and give strength, comfort, and peace to his grieving family during this difficult time. May his noble soul rest in eternal peace
