Puttur, Sep 15: Hundreds of Hindu workers gathered near a supermarket at Tingaladi as a woman accused a youth of another community of sexually harassing her in a shop when the owner was not around.
The woman, a resident of Sarvey Nerolthadka had come to super bazaar at Tingaladi on Wednesday September 14 evening to buy grocery. Owner of the shop Hamid had gone out to have tea. Cashing on the situation, Badruddin alias Badru, a resident of Sorake Olemundovu, sexually harassed the woman. As the woman raised alarm, the culprit escaped from the spot.
As the news of the incident spread, hundreds of Hindu youths gathered near the super bazaar and urged to arrest the accused by September 15 morning or else warned of fierce protest.
Sampya police visited the spot. President, vice president and members of Kedambadi gram panchayat also rushed to the spot.
MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have condemned the incident.
