Udupi: Officials to be held responsible in accident cases on NH black spots - SP Machhindra

Udupi, Sep 15: Superintendent of police (SP) Hakay Akshay Machhindra brought to the notice of roads safety committee officials about the scientific upgradation that is not carried out on black spots on national highway and said, “If no action is taken by the concerned and accidents take place in such spots, concerned officials will be made responsible for the accident.”

Machhindra was speaking at the road safety committee meeting that was held at the DC office auditorium.

The SP further said, “So far from January 2022 till date, more than Rs 1.96 crore fine is collected in 42,944 cases of violation of road rules. Vehicle drivers and riders should make use of seat belts and helmets without fail.”

PWD executive engineer Ravikumar, RTO Ravishankar, joint director of industries department Nagaraj, district news officer Manjunath B and nationa highway engineer Nagaraj were present.

Indrali railway over bridge work to begin from Oct 1 - DC

“The road development works of Indrali railway over bridge should begin from October 1 and completed within one month by the NHAI officials. Cooperation required to carry out this work should be given by police, city municipality and railway department officials,” said deputy commissioner (DC) M Kurma Rao.

Rao was speaking at the district road safety committee meeting that was held at the auditorium of DC’s office.

Rao further said, “More than 30 black spot accident zones are identified in the district. Immediate action needs to be taken by officials concerned on national and state highways to reduce the fatalities in accidents. Permanent work needs to be done in future. They should provide a report to the district road safety authority on the actions they have taken in this regard.

“When pedestrians follow road safety rules without fail it is possible to avoid accidents. Everyone should be aware of this,” he said.

    Sorry to say all these officers are hand in coots with the GOI as they fear for transfers /suspensions or dismissed from service if they ?. Why do we have to pay Toll/Road tax on NH or State highways for bad roads inaugurated by politicians for benefit of their own parties.

    According to me, both Officials as well as contractors equal responsible for the accident cases. Contractor must apply A -1 quality items and Officials must check the conditions of the roads regularly by inspecting.

By these statements they just want to deceive you. 2000 years ago the Roman philosopher rightly said: "The world wishes to be deceived" If we are satisfied with this kind of statements, that is the end of the matter.

    this is just kann katt..nhai officials are controlled by central govt..they dont give a damn to state administration...nothing will be done...it will be like business as usual after the meeting..jo mar gaya so mar gaya...govt is least bothered.

    Why do you spare main culprits main contractors???... Officials are pawns of contractor/politician lobby... But it is easy to target officers than bigwigs... So SP has conveniently chosen them...
