With numbers in its side, BJP confident of steering Anti-conversion Bill through Council

Bengaluru, Sep 15 (IANS): With numbers in both Houses of legislature on their side, the ruling BJP is confident of successfully clearing the anti-conversion Bill.

The Bill has been passed by the Legislative Assembly on Thursday and is slated to be tabled in the Council later in the day.

Sources in the government said the decision to table the controversial Bill was taken at Wednesday's cabinet meeting.

The government had earlier cleared the controversial Bill through the Legislative Assembly, it had to take the ordinance route as it did not have majority in the Upper House.

But with the ruling party enjoying a majority in the Council too, the mood in the BJP is upbeat this time. Seven BJP candidates have since been added to the 75-member Legislative Council in Karnataka.

MLA and BJP national general secretary CT Ravi expressed confidence that the anti-conversion Bill will clear the numbers challenge as no one is in favour of conversions.

The ruling BJP had successfully steered the Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill which prohibits forced religious conversions, in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in December 2021. However, the Bill was not tabled in the Legislative Council as the ruling BJP did not have majority. In May this year, the government took the Ordinance route.

Their main target is peace loving Christian community. If you see any of the big leaders including from undivided Dakshina Kannada including from BJP, their education background will be from well known Christian institutions. Christian community should awake. Show the power on the ballots polling day. As per my experience most of Christian families doesn’t show much of an Interest on voting day with most of them will be out of place. Best example is the shocking defeat of our hard working ExMLA Mr.lobo.

Follow the constitutional procedure to pass any bill. Don’t bull doze any bill only by your majority, overnight without even the knowledge of your alliance and the opposition. Consult with the experts, religious leaders and stake holders.

Hindus khathre meh hai ! Pass similar bill against Hinduism when any Westerners or men from other religion convert to Hinduism or try to follow Bhagavad Gita or being influenced by Hindu cultural values. Law should be both ways and not one way traffic.

Jewism/Jainism/Sikhis/Parsis never ever thought to increase there population to survive in the society to compete with other religions. Instead they themselves focussed on there ability and established themselves and contribute there efforts in sll the fields to benefit to the society. Other's only after to spread there religion and forcibly converting the people as huge amount flown-in from abroad for such purposes. Did Paramatma given them task to do so...!!

God knows there is only one true God but he does not have the ability to make all the people follow his religion that is why he has outsourced this Job to Humans so that he will have more people singing praises on him and to say he is the greatest.

Mr. Bhaskar, I think you don't have any knowledge about religion. In the field of education, health, oldage homes, orphanage Christians are leading. Their contribution to the society is immense. If they are converting forcefully then why their population is still less than 2 percent.

Yes Paramathma is incapable of having his one religion in earth that is why he is depending on Ordinary mortals to spread his religion!. In the process if any friction happens creator is not ready to take responsibility he wants to see the Majaa of people taking on one another.
