Udupi, Sep 15: District Superintendent of Police Hakay Akshay Machindra has cautioned the public about cyber frauds and requested the members of the public to report such incidences within the golden hour period. 

In a press note, Hakay Akshay Machindra said, "People will be in doubt in cyber crime cases as to whom to report and how to report incidents. There is a concept called Golden Hour principle when it comes to cyber crimes. Share the details of the incident as soon as the crime happens. We will immediately block the transactions and secure the money."

Citing instances securing transactions, he said, "in a cyber crime case reported from Padubidri we have secured around Rs 28 lacs. In another incident reported from Mandarthi, a victim had transferred around Rs 3 lacs for a medical emergency. But later on he realised that it was a fraud. He immediately informed us. We immediately went to Mumbai and arrested the culprit and the entire transaction link was traced and the lost amount was also secured. Victim can avail himself of the amount after completing certain bank procedures. Public should follow this golden hour principle as much as possible.” 

Victims should inform the National cyber crime reporting portal website immediately in cases of cyber frauds. Accounts of both the customer and the fraudsters will be freezed within no time. This is called golden hour.

    Sir, with due respect to the efforts being put by your department and the positive results, when Aadhaar card, a "very valuable document", which was forced upon people saying it is a very safe, impenetrable document is being faked by scamsters and all sorts of scams and forgeries done, some even to usurp big idle lying properties, how can the common man safeguard his interests??

    What about the calls we get from mobile numbers acting as a Bank employee and scamming people, there should be some procedure to complain. Also police should take action against the bank employees who share customer details which is confidential
