Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Sep 16: The state government started Punyakoti cow adoption scheme this year in July in order to protect old and cows that are left on the street. However, the scheme has no takers. More than 33,000 cows need protection. So far only 152 are adopted.

There are 1.14 crore cattle in Karnataka including cow and buffaloes. In order to protect them from getting slaughtered illegally, the state government passed anti cow slaughter bill in 2021. From that day on, there is a steep increase in the number of cows that are sent to goshalas.

Salman Fahim, secretary of animal husbandry department said, “This scheme started just a month ago. It was expected that the scheme would be a big hit. This scheme has got the capability of getting more donors. We are recruiting marketing agencies to contact corporate companies adopt cows. We will also appeal to banking, ITBT and other companies to join the scheme.”

Good suggestion Chief minister ji please set an example. You and your cohort should take to your homes or farms a minimum of a dozen animals each, and pay all their expenses of food, medicine and when they die they should be all cremated with all due respect.

This is the reality of BD/VHP/Bhakths. I thought cows will be adopted with in no time but the reality is something diffrent. They don't want to take any responsibility, just use it for creating unrest. Let the BJP Govt forcefully donate the cows to BD/VHP/Bhakths and their MP/MLA to take care.

Earlier practice was when the cow's productive cycle was over most used to be sold to butchers as the already overburdened farmers couldn't afford to look after unproductive old cows; now, in the banning of cow meat, farmers are forced to leave the cows on the streets to fend for themselves; these stray cows pose a big nuisance and danger to passing vehicles!! BTW, who is tracking the fate of the adopted cows on how they are being treated or sold off for quick money??

Earlier the old cows were sold for slaughtering and there was no problem of theft of cows. Now, we from Karnataka have falled prey to the false narrative of Hindi/Gujju people and banned the slaughtering of cows. This is double blow to the farmers who are not getting the money and their cows are also being stolen. The entire blame for this is on one party which thirives basis of violence.
