Internal strife in Karnataka Congress surfaces ahead of Bharat Jodo Yatra entering state

Bengaluru, Sep 17 (IANS): The simmering tension within the Karnataka unit of Congress has come to the fore as the party gears up to welcome Rahul Gandhi-led 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' into the state on September 30.

Without taking names, State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday said that the party will not consider the so-called leaders who are busy attending marriage ceremonies and ribbon cutting. "I want numbers. I want to win the elections. The leaders must go to the booth level and work," he stressed.

According to Congress insiders, it is a direct warning to party leaders who are rallying before Opposition leader Siddaramaiah. Congress state unit is gearing up to make the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', a huge success. It also wants to continue the momentum it gained from the 75th birth anniversary of Siddaramaiah, followed by 'Swatantra Nadige' (walk for freedom).

Shivakumar had also vented out ire his against one of top Congress leaders R.V. Deshapande. "I had asked him to send 5,000 party workers for the Bharat Jodo Yatra. But, he refused. What if leaders refuse to work with Rahul Gandhi? No one would be spared," he said.

He openly stated that he is not getting support from his party leaders in tune with his speed.

Responding to it, Deshapande said, "he has too much speed".

The state Congress unit is planning to mobilize 20,000 people everyday to take part in the yatra. The call has also been given to bring along cultural teams.

It is funny that Rahul Gandhi is on Bharath Jodo Yatra and some section who represent 30% of population are in SC that they are on a diagonally opposite path on Hijab....let us hope one will win, either Bharath Jodo or Hijab...there is nothing jodo associated with both actually.

Also R V Deshpandeji is the senior next only to Siddu in the Congress party. One of the most erudite, knowledgeable personality who has lots of experience in governing, and one who has done justice to all portfolios he has held thus far, without being a rubber stamp. One who was/ is keen to make Karnataka a progressive industrial state. His hold in UK district is so well known. He is respected. Such a senior person you ORDER to arrange some crowd of 5000 at short notice out of the blue !How demeaning.... Your Yatra should draw crowds and not have PAID elements DKS! Mr R V knows it in his heart. He is too experienced. Force does not always work even in politics.

The BJP is already fast falling out of favor, the people who earlier support them are also having second thoughts. If really they were not worried, why the ED action against DKS at this time? Dal hi kaala hai ji.

This Congress BJ Yatra has become a real Tamashaa with internal strifes. Rahul is ill advised once again. Some people in his coterie might have told him " Walk 3570 kms, wherever you like in India and you are the next PM" snd he seems to have believed it. Is it so easy?? When you can't set things right in your party... well

They can discuss with modern technology available all these trivial matters . ..(in private ......)....Basically not mature .. individual egos .. from their party perspective should have a larger vision . ...big picture... .. all narrowed down by being power hungry ....

Shettre, Not a supporter of Congress, but for Modi's program in Mangalore. The BJPEE used government institutions and paid people to gather for Modi's function, they failed miserably and to an extent picture of old Modi's function was tweeted by BJP leaders as if it was in Mangalore. Now don't cry hard sitting in Dubai, take a chill pill and come to Modi's India and have a livelihood, spewing venom on Muslims and earning in a Muslim country is called hypocrisy.
