Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Sep 17: Police cracked a drug peddling gang and arrested three persons in this connection.

The arrested are identified as Ravishankar, Anjal Baiju and Devi Prasad. The three of them used to peddle ganja in food delivery bags. Goods worth Rs 1,37,000 have been seized from the arrested.

Recently, Udupi police had conducted a serial crackdown drive and the police arrested several of them involved in the consumption of drugs.

Based on the information received from these individuals police had learned that Ravishankar used to bring ganja from Palakkad in Kerala and was supplying it to his customers in Udupi and surrounding places. Acting on a tip-off about his activities, the Udupi police arrested Ravishankar on Saturday September 17, when he was trying to sell ganja to his customers and was waiting for some peddlers on the Indrali-Manchi road.

Police have seized 1.277 kilos of ganja valued at over Rs 30,000 from the accused. Two motorbikes valued at Rs 95,000 and four mobile handsets worth Rs 12,000 have also been confiscated.

Drug peddlers are mostly chaddi supporters, because they know money can be made in this illegal business, and don't want other community people to grab this business.

Idiotic to say the least! Instead of allowing Cannabis, which is highly valued by Ayurveda, Indians are blindly following the outdated rules set by vested interests of the West. Cannabis is a great pain killer without any side effects and is proven helpful in epilepsy etc., In recent years Medical Research has been unlocking many more benefits of this gift of nature.
