Islamabad, April 23 (IANS) US Army Chief of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, met his Pakistani counterpart General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani here Friday, a day after a visit by US top military official Admiral Michael Mullen.
This was General Dempsey's first visit to Pakistan since assuming charge.
The Daily Times reported Saturday that General Dempsey visited Pakistan Friday to meet and consult with Pakistani leaders and US embassy officials.
During his visit, he met General Kayani.
He also met US Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter, as well as civilian and military staff at the US embassy.
Gen Dempsey visited Islamabad a day after a visit by Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen.
Admiral Mullen had said after meeting General Kayani that "challenges in ties" persist and "not all is brightness and light".
