Byndoor: Collision of motorcycles - Husband killed, wife seriously injured

Byndoor, Sep 22: In an accident that occurred at Yedthare on national highway 66 under Byndoor police station limits, Jagadish Patwal, a local resident who was riding a motorcycle was killed and his wife Asha seriously injured when the vehicle on which they were travelling collided with another motorcycle.

Jagadish was waiting at Yadthare junction in order to take a turn to Kollur road with his wife seated on pillion. He had put the right indicator of his motorcycle too. In the meantime, Mohammed Ibrahim who was going from Kundapur to Byndoor, crashed into Jagadish’s motorcycle.

Jagadish received injuries on his abdomen and waist while his wife Asha received injuries on hands and head. Gurukiran and Sridhar took both the injured to Manipal hospital. Jagadish succumbed on the way. Asha is in critical condition.

Byndoor police are investigating further.

    It’s sad that in any form of accident in Byndoor and Kundapur, victims are rushed to Manipal Kasturba Hospital Trauma Center where there are students attending. Why don’t they take them to a hospital in Kundapur or Koteshwar? In those 45min to 60min ride, any victim will die as most of these privately operated so called Maruthi van ambulances don’t have life saving equipment inside nor an attendant. I cannot understand why the authorities are so lax about such straight forward emergencies. Manipal Kasturba Hospital is fully equipped but with trainee students in attendance without a real Dictirs presence or guidance.

    It looks like the bike has hit from behind. I know this junction very well. If he has put the right indicator then he was travelling in kundapur byndoor direction. The other bike too was coming in the same direction. The deceased is a known person in Byndoor. May his soul RIP.

    life is so cheap in third world countries..no safety at all...road humps in may places are not painted...if anyone who is new to the area will just ride through and either fall or hit someone else...every time we step out of the house and walk or ride on road it is a scary situation...

    Crossings usually have speed reducer bottle necking... I wonder how the guy came at such a speed to crash into waiting vehicle?... Very unfortunate for the family... RIP to the departed soul... Wishing speedy recovery to the lady... She may have kids waiting for care...
