Mangaluru, Sep 24: “The century-old Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, Kudroli temple's Dasara Mahostava will be held from September 26 to October 6 with various cultural, and spiritual programmes," said H S Sairam, president of the temple managing committee.
He was addressing a press meet at the temple convention hall here on Saturday September 24.
"As part of the Dasara festival, every afternoon at 12.30 pm, there will be Pushpalankara Mahapooja, from 7 to 8 pm Bhajana programme, and after 8.30 pm Shri Devi Puspakalankara Pooja, Annadana, and evening cultural programmes will be held. Bali Utsava will also be held.
He said, “All on the nine days, various types of spiritual rituals will be held for the deity. The grand procession of Dasara celebration will begin on October 5 at 4 pm.
“The procession will pass through the main roads of the city. All the Dasara events and the grand procession of Dasara will be held under the leadership of former union minister Janardhana Poojary. Our wish is that Janardhana Poojary should inaugurate this Dasara festival. A letter will be sent from the committee urging the chief minister to attend the Dasara festival,” he said.
B Madhava Suvarna, secretary of the temple managing committee said that procession will begin on time. "We have instructed different tableau and tiger dance teams to follow the instructions given by the temple management committee," he added.
The temple managing committee also informed that Mangaluru City Corporation will illuminate prominent places of the city.
Treasurer Padmaraj said, “Highest number of devotees will come to witness the grand Dasara celebrations this time as there was no grand celebration due to the pandemic for the last two years. All the facilities and proper arrangements for the devotees who visit the temple will be made.”
He also added that proper parking management will be made near Mannagudda, near Vishal Nursing Home and other places.
Temple Management Committee vice-president Smt Urmila Ramesh, member Harikrishna Bantwal trustees Ravishankar Mijar, Shekar Poojary, Maheshchandra, Temple development committee chairman Devendra Poojary, vice chairman Dr BG Suvarana, members K Chitharanjan Garody Jathi Attavar and others were present.
