Iyer Criticises Prime Minister on Endosulfan Issue

Kochi, Apr 26 (PTI) Noted Jurist and former Supreme Court judge V R Krishna Iyer has criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for what he called his 'unfeeling indifference' to Kerala's request for a country wide ban on Endosulfan.

"I disapprove of the Prime Minister's unfeeling indifference to the request of all the Kerala Ministers jointly requesting the ban of the dangerous and deleterious Endosulfan most harmful to human life," Justice Iyer said in a statement here yesterday.

"The Prime Minister's attitude is violative of the right to life of the Indian people and to continue the manufacture and distribution of Endosulfan is unfortunate and violative of Article 21," he said.

Iyer supported the protest against the pesticide led by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan who observed a day-long fast yesterday.
