India Must Back War Crimes Trial in Sri Lanka: DMK

Chennai, April 27 (IANS) Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK said Wednesday that India should insist that alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka should be heard by an international tribunal.

This was part of a resolution moved by the DMK at a meeting of its leadership here, and followed a UN report that has reported war crimes as the war in Sri Lanka ended in 2009.

The DMK also said both Tamils and Sinhalese, Sri Lanka's minority and majority communities, should enjoy equal rights.
