Mangalore Apr 27: Three Deacons belonging to the Carmelite Order, Dn. Godwin Arun Pinto Dn. Jason Tellis and Dn. Elias D’Cunha were ordained priests. Most Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore consecrated Dn. Godwin Pinto in his home parish at Gangolli on 26th April, 2011 and Most Rev. Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary conferred the Holy Orders of Priesthood on Dn. Jason and Dn. Elias on 19th April, 2011 at Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangalore.

About 60 priests concelebrated at the Eucharist and a good number of faithful took part in the Liturgy with devotion and rapture.

The Bishop in his homily explained the significance and importance of the priests in the life of the Christian faithful and expressed his happiness and gratitude to God for giving THREE NEW PRIESTS to the Church. Fr. Melwyn D’Cunha animated the Liturgy.

The newly ordained priests: Fr. Godwin Pinto, son of John Santhan and Karmin Pinto hails from Gangolli (Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Parish).

Fr. Jason Tellis, son of Thomas and Celine Tellis belongs to the St. Francis Xavier Church, Mudarangadi.

Fr. Elias D’Cuha, son of Sylvester and Lilly D’Cunha hails from St. Francis Xavier Church, Anegudde.

After the Ordination ceremony which lasted for about two hours, a short felicitation programme followed. Rev. Fr. Archibald Gonsalves and Carmelite Provincial Superior honored the newly ordained Priests and thanked their parents for sacrificing their sons to the garden of Carmel.

O Most Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, hear the prayers we offer for our priests and nuns. Let them know clearly the work that You are calling them to do. Grant them every grace to answer Your call with courage, love, and a lasting dedication to Your will. We ask Mary's intercession as their loving mother. Amen.

O Jesus, our beloved Lord and Savior, hear our humble prayers on behalf of your priests and nuns. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope, and a burning love which will constantly increase throughout the course of their holy life. In their loneliness, comfort them In their sorrows, strengthen them In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified and show them that they are needed by the Church, that they are needed by souls, that they are needed for the work of redemption. Amen.

O lovely Mother Mary, Mother of priests and nuns, take to your heart your sons and daughters who are close to you because of their higher calling and because of the power which they have received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their comfort be their joy be their strength and especially help them to live and defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy. Amen.
