Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve.
To give and not to count the cost. To fight and not to heed the wounds.
To toil and not to seek for rest.
To labor and not to ask for reward.
Save that of knowing that I do your will.

What a beautiful ceremony of Perpetual Oath to watch of 23 young and attractive nuns that have been blessed to serve the order of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation and embrace the faith in God. We shall pray for them in a special way so that their dedication towards their vocation may help them and help this world in so many ways. The world is indeed in need of more nuns.

Ursuline nuns have contributed a great deal in Mangalore. I remember couple of years of my young days as a Altar Server I have visited their Convent at Jeppoo for the Xmas midnight service. I still remember the plate of "Kooswahr" the nuns u sed to give us after the Holy mass. Nuns have a special charm and love in taking care of visitors at their Convents. They come out in different styles with lots of smiles and lots of cheerful stories and topics. They appear to be very happy, jolly, and very affectionately attached to each other. (Myself and my dear wife many times wish that we were blessed with a daughter so that we could have influenced her to become a nun. Whatever order we dont care. Instead of a Dhawry we could have presented a heavy brown envelope to the Rev. Mother Superior. There is a nice sayinng: "If horses were choosers then beggers would ride" - a fine way to satisfy ourselves). Long live the Nuns and Priests.

23 nuns have professed their perpetual oath. This would be impossible in Germany where orders suffer from serious problems to convince young people to become a monk or nun.
I know some convents where nuns live and the average age is 70 years old.
Lots of orders will probably not survive in Germany and in Mangalore 23 young Ursuline Franciscan sisters have professed their perpetual oath on the occasion.
Many nuns from India live and work meanwhile in Germany and work at hospitals or kindergarten or elderly homes. They dedicated their life to social servive.
It is amazing how Indian nuns are integrated, they have an excellent command over German or friendly and they enrich the spiritual life in many parishes here.
Only few young men are ordained every year in the diocese I live and there are lots of parishes without a priest. And only once a week and on Sundays believers can hear mass because of a shortage of Catholic priests.
Our most important duty as Christians is to go to church on Sundays and to take care of the needy.
We will need more and more nuns and priests in the future in Germany.
In our everyday life faith does not play any important role any longer, people are indifferent towards church and faith.
I feel encouraged to read this article and to know what important role faith and nuns play in Mangalore.
May Jesus bless you dear sisters!

May the good Lord shower his choicest belssings on them and keep in his special care and tenderness all the days of their life.
Priests and Nuns do require our special prayers at all times to cope with the dirty, filthy and immoral world as such today.
    God bless them all.
