Doing Little Things for Children of a Lesser God!

Doing Little Things for Children of a Lesser God!

By Prof Narendra Nayak

Mangalore, Apr 30: The write up 'Children of a Lesser God!' about the home for the HIV positive children tugged strings in the hearts of many, many people we have had donations from people from all over the world and when A S Vijetha, an engineer with the ANZ Operations and technology read about it, she decided to spend her whole vacation with these children.

She came to Mangalore on the April 27 and the first thing she did was to go to the house where these children were lodged and give them sweets, samosas and many other things needed for them. Dr Yashwanth Nayak, a general practitioner was so moved by their story that he sponsored some vessels for them. Dolly Koshy was so touched that she too spent an amount on them. Vibhor Nayak, an oil technologist donated a generous amount from his first salary for them.

When the staff of the home told Vijetha that some of the children needed footwear, she wanted to buy for all of them that because she did not want to discriminate between them. So, we contacted a local reputed footwear shop to provide them that and that Vijetha would pay for them. The children were brought in the vehicle of the home to the shop where we served them with hot fried stuff fresh from the kadai. They were delighted to wear the new footwear and almost every one packed their old ones into the bag provided and went back wearing the new ones!

The owner of the shop Alwyn Rosario was so much moved that the generous discount that he offered made it look as if the shoes were being given free. But the amount cannot be mentioned as he forbade us from doing so. The children went back happily to their home.

These children need help and protection. They are innocent and the weakest members of society.
Medically and psychologically everything must done for them and many people from all over the world donated money.
It shows the willingness of human beings to enable these children a better life.
And we should pray for them.

    Best regards
