M'lore: Mass Marriage at Rosario Cathedral - 26 Couples Enter Wedded Bliss

Mangalore, May 1:
St Vincent D Paul Sabhavathi organized a mass marriage at Rosario Cathedral Church in city on Sunday May 1.

26 couples entered into nuptial knot in the presence of religious leaders. Gulbarga diocese Bishop Fr Robert Miranda and Fr Stany Goveas of Rosario church offered bali pooja and blessed the new couples.
 
Speaking on the occasion the bishop said that the key to successful marital life is understanding and co-operation between the couples. He added St Vincent D Paul Sabha is a charity organization which aims at helping poor families who face problem in arranging lavish marriage ceremony.
 
Steven M P Dais, inspector of central excise and service tax was the chief guest during the stage programme held at the hall in the premises of the church.

Herald Monteiro, SVP, Central Council vice president, SVP president Jochim Monteiro, SVP secretary Philomena Lobo were present on the dais.
 
Fr Stany Goveas welcomed. Ravikumar D’Souza and Priyadarshini D’Souza lit the lamp on behalf of 26 new couples. Each couple were given gift worth Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 fixed deposit (cash) by the organizers.

Roshan Paul D’Souza and Shwetha (Siddakatte) delivered  the thanks- giving speech on behalf of all the couples. Molly D’Souza, SVP member compered the programe at the church. Alwyn Tauro compered the programme at the hall. SVP vice president C J Simon delivered vote of thanks.

    kudos to the organizers of the mass wedding.I think we need to remember the pioneer who initiated this noble venture. Rev Fr Fred pereira who felt the need to have this celebration especially for the less privileged started this 37 years ago. today he is no more but his greatness remains.may God bless all the new weds and may God also bless this noble soul.

    Oh indeed I was very happy to see the newly married couples.It brought my memories back to me , last year i did attend the mass but this year I am in philippins far away from the country but still i felt I am in Mangalore when I saw the photos and my parishners. congratulations dear Fr.
