Mangaluru, Oct 8: The court here sentenced a land surveyor to prison for seeking bribe.
Mahadeva Nayak, who was working as land surveyor in the Puttur land survey department is the person. A case was filed against Nayak in the Mangaluru division of Karnataka Lokayukta in 2014 for seeking bribe from a person to survey the land and draw the map of his land at Aryapu village of Puttur taluk.
Justice B B Jakati of third additional district and sessions court of the city, who conducted the inquiry, sentenced Nayak to three years and three months of simple imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 20,000. If the convict fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo three months of additional imprisonment.
S Vijayaprasad, currently serving as ASI of Karkala sub division of Lokayukta, who was the Lokayukta police inspector of Mangaluru in 2014, had submitted chargesheet in the court. Lokayukta special public prosecutor Ravindra Munnipadi had argued for the prosecution.
