Mangaluru: World Bunts’ Foundation Trust holds felicitation, awards ceremony

Mangaluru, Oct 8: A felicitation and awards ceremony organised by World Bunts’ Foundation Trust was held at AJ Grand Hotel on Bunts Hostel Road on Saturday October 8.

Meanwhile, house keys were handed over to 17 beneficiaries of a housing scheme donated by Shashi Kiran Shetty.

Six personalities were felicitated on the occasion. They were CA Mandara P Shetty, CA Darshan Shetty (cleared CA final exam in the first attempt) CA Shantharam Shetty, chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Mangaluru, K Prithvi Raj Shetty president of Mangalore Bar Association, P B Harish Rai, member, National Council Indian Federation of Working Journalists.

Dr D K Chowta endowment award was presented to K Raghurama Shetty for his contribution towards Yakshagana. Endowment scholarship was distributed to the students.

Eminent Bunt personality award was conferred on Shashi Kiran Shetty, founder and chairman of Allcargo group, Mumbai.

Speaking on the occasion, Shashi Kiran Shetty said, “I accept this felicitation from World Bunts’ Foundation Trust. The 17 beneficiaries are most deserving and were identified for providing shelter. The inspiration to provide houses for the deserving was based on two thoughts, one was buying new property in Mumbai and the second one being 25th birthday of my son. This inspired me that I need to share the joy by providing shelter for those who are in need.”

Patron Dr B R Shetty, past chairman Dr M Shantharam Shetty also spoke on the occasion.

Vice-chairman Kushal S Hegde, L Sacchidananda Hegde, treasurer, CA P Raghavendra Shetty, project director, Dr B Sanjeev Rai, vice-chairman and Reetha Shetty, New Delhi were also present.

Chairman of World Bunts’ Foundation Trust Dr A J Shetty welcomed the gathering. Secretary CA Sudhir Kumar Shetty proposed the vote of thanks and Manohar Prasad compered the event.

Prior to the awards and felicitation ceremony, the 26th annual general body meeting of the World Bunts’ Foundation Trust for the year 2021-22 was held.

The World Bunts’ Foundation Trust, which was established in 1995, has been extending support to numerous beneficiaries in the field of education, health, sports, arts, culture, and improving standards of nutrition and sanitation.

More than 6,000 students have derived benefits from the foundation over the years. The foundation has more than 700 members spread across the globe. The contributions made by the members and various endowments instituted by the donors are the major source of revenue to support the activities of the foundation.

    Bunts should have a database of their community members ..Data that can be used drive pinpointed b growth and overall progress of the community. They should collate such database with counter parts in kerala such as Nairs and Vokkaligas of Karnataka and gounders of Tamila Nadu.
