Osama's Followers Still Alive, Warns Congress Leader

New Delhi, May 2 (IANS): The "demon" was dead but there was no reason for complacency as Osama bin Laden's followers are still alive, Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi said Monday.

"Demon is dead. But there is no reason for anyone in this world to be complacent because his followers are alive... and Taliban is still there," the Rajya Sabha MP told IANS.

American military and CIA operatives cornered world's most wanted terrorist in Abbottabad, just 50 km northeast of Pakistan's capital. The killing ended a 10-year manhunt for the Al Qaeda leader.

Chaturvedi said: "There is always a possibly for retaliation. They can desperately show their anger and western countries and India could also be a target."

He also targeted Pakistan.

"Pakistan stands nakedly exposed in the eyes of the world. We Indians have been saying for ages that Pakistan is the root cause of terrorism. Osama living for several months just 50 km away from Islamabad... can this be without the knowledge of Pakistan. The world community should unequivocally make effort to root out terrorism from Pakistan. Any complacency will be fatal," he said.
