Dubai, May 3 : Mangalore's well-known Ortho surgeon, Popular 'Ask Doctor' columnist on Daijiworld.com  and famous Konkani writer, Dr Edward Nazareth's anthology of short stories, ‘Golimaar’, was released by prolific writer, Daiji Dubai convener, and Daijiworld Middle East FZE head, Stan Ageira, here on Sunday May 1, 2011, at Shezan Restaurant during the 'Meet the Writers' programme organised by Konkani Writers Forum, Daiji Dubai.

Stan Ageira presented a gist of some of the selected stories of ‘Golimaar’, and substantiated that Dr Edward is an impact writer loved by all kinds of readers. In an address to the gathering, Dr Edward presented a picture of his journey as a writer and a doctor.
The multifaceted and multitalented Dr Edward was in his elements in adding humour to his thoughtful speech. The discussion session was moderated by celebrated poet, Melvyn Rodrigues. In his concluding address, Melvyn lauded the achievements of Dr Edward, and specially mentioned about the simplicity behind this well grounded man. Jerry Rashquinha and Ron Roche thanked Daiji Dubai and the gathering for their kind support. Questions and queries were raised by several invitees, and Dr Edward satisfied them with his thoughtful answers. Well-known critic, Nanu Marol, brilliantly compered the entire session.

It was a moment of pride for Konkani writers in Dubai, as other two visiting Konkani writers, Ron Roche Cassia and Jerry Rasquinha, were felicitated by Daiji Dubai, along with Dr Edward Nazareth.

Daiji Dubai founder convener, Dayan D’Souza, welcomed the guests and invitees. In his welcome note, Dayan highlighted the role of all three writers in enriching the growth of Konkani literature. He stated that Ron Roche Cassia’s suspense stories matched the thrillers from other languages, whereas Jerry Rasquinha’s light-hearted articles made the time spent in reading them worthwhile. He specifically mentioned Dr Edward Nazareth’s all-round participation in promoting Konkani literature and his selfless mission in spreading awareness on health issues.

Dr Edward is one among the very few writers in Konkani, who has succeeded in maintaining right balance in reaching out to the masses as well as the classes.

I share the views of several people and particularly persons associated with Daijiworld and Daijidubai regarding the versatile gentleman Dr. Edward Nazareth. Indeed professionally Edward is very competent and has brought a good name for himself and for Father Muller's Hospital. What is good about Dr. Nazareth is that he is humane with great qualities of heart and mind and excellent bed-side manners which are so very essential to instill confidence in patients from different denominations.

All are not gifted with the aptitude for story writing but here is a man who is gifted. I am personally a story teller having used this trait to amuse my grand children whose ages range from nine to thirty-six. When in Unites States I used to delight in telling my grand-children, Lara, Rhea and Vikram bed-time stories to put them to bed. However sometimes my grand-children used to put me to bed.

Edward - you are on the right track. Keep up your good work in different directions and do make use of the GOD-GIVEN TALENT. You have my good wishes.
