Mangaluru, Oct 11: Well-known music composer and singer Melwyn Peris is all set to present his 110th musical nite along with his troupe on Sunday January 22 at Capitanio school-college campus.
The musical extravaganza organized by SSVP Angelore unit in memory of their golden jubilee celebration and with the noble aim of raising funds for its various projects.
In a press release, Ivan D’Silva, president of SSVP Angelore stated, "We had planned a big project of constructing and donating three houses to the poorest families of our parish to commemorate and celebrate our 50th anniversary as a milestone. However, due to Covid, our project was delayed. To complete this ambitious mission, it is estimated that we will need at least Rs 21 lac towards construction and related expenses. As such, towards this just cause we decided to organise a musical nite and food festival. Angelore parish council under the parish priest Fr William Menezes has approved this noble project.
“Legendary and famous composer, singer and musician Melwyn Peris is a member of our parish. He has been helping our parish, other parishes and many other causes through his talented services for our society. When we requested him to help SVP Angelore unit to raise as much funds as possible towards our mission, he readily agreed to hold a musical nite with his popular team members and associates. Therefore, we will be organizing the 110th Melwyn Peris nite with a food festival on January 22, 2023 at Capitanio school-college campus where sufficient seating capacity and vehicle parking facility is available.
“To make our golden jubilee dream project a reality, we request all our parishioners and non-parishioners, generous hearted philanthropists and lovers of Konkani music to donate and support our noble mission,” he stated in the media release.
The SSVP Angelore unit was started on September 19, 1971 and Fr Gregory D’Souza was its first spiritual director. Antony Bonaventure served as its founder president. The unit so far has contributed nearly Rs two crore to the needy through various projects.
